The Unix/Linux engineer resource(s) personnel assigned must be able to do administration and troubleshooting, in a 24×7 enterprise setting (inclusive of manual discovery or post actions from automatic alerts). He/she is/are expected to cover level 1 and level 2 Unix/Linux related problems
Responsibilities
Provide support for IT infrastructure on Unix Platform.
Expertise in Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis of Server Side and Application Side issues.
Deploying Unix/Linux packages and bug fixes to Test/PreProd/Production Environments.
Adhere to change management requirements for implementations of enhancements/change requests.
Responsible for the day-to-day operational aspects of Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE administration to meet the business needs and service level.
Manage operation changes through change request process & provide status reports to the relevant parties.
Provide 1st and 2nd level operational Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE support.
Assist and respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated. Provide timely status updates to relevant parties.
Ensure service level meet requirement. Propose and implement action plan when required.
Involve in the implementation of service continuity measures, i.e., backup/restore procedures & disaster recovery plan, to ensure continuous operation of the business.
All other Unix/Linux administration responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Mandatory Skill-set
Diploma/Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of good working experience on Unix/Linux/Solaris/Redhat/AIX/SUSE administration in an enterprise level environment.
Strong Knowledge with experience in RedHat Clustering and Oracle Solaris Clustering.
Strong Knowledge with experience in scripting tools/language such as Perl, Ruby and AWK.
Good knowledge of System management tools and practices.
Experience in disaster recovery practices and procedures
Ability to work closely with various technology teams in dynamic and fast-paced environment.
A good team player with the ability to work independently.
Strong personal work ethic with an aptitude for analysis and problem solving.
Possess good communication skills both verbal and written.
Ability to learn in a fast paced environment, multi-task, perform under pressure, and be a strong team player.
Experience supporting Singapore government agencies with security clearance.
Willing to work in 12 hrs Shift if necessary
